After perfecting the wines for several years, the 2014 vintage is the first one to be commercially released.
The wine has matured 6 months in steel tanks and 14 months in used oak barrels. It is made from 100% Sangiovese grapes. It has a fresh red fruit nose with hints of strawberry and cherry. The colour is light ruby red, almost Pinot Noir like. Medium bodied with great clear clean fruit-driven palate. Great complexity coming from the soft yet defined tannins of the Sangiovese. Once again, red fruit character with a lovely vibrant acidity. This wine can be drunk now but will also age gracefully over the next ten years.
Poggio a Rofani
This is a single vineyard wine made from 100% Sangiovese grapes, hand picked and carefully selected. It has matured in used oak barrels for two years and in bottle for one year before being released. The first vintage (2014) will be available for sale post summer 2017.
Via l’Inverno Rosé
Our Rosé is made from grapes selected from the lower part of our Poggio a Rofani vineyard and is a mix of red and white grapes, mainly Sangiovese and Malvasia. The wine was pressed out on the first day of harvest and has matured in steel tanks for 8 months before going into bottles. It’s a wonderful wine for summer days.
There are approx. 950 olive trees on the property. The olives are picked in early November and after pressing the olives at a local mill the oil is bottled. The yield is approx. 15% on the olives and when pressed, they turn into a clear acidic green oil with a strong aroma and beautiful peppery taste.
